- Coronary Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in Thailand and worldwide.
- Each year, more than 20 million people die from Coronary Heart Disease.
- In 2022, over 19 million deaths occurred prematurely, with 85% due to heart attack and stroke.

Chest tightness from acid reflux and heart-related chest tightness have distinct characteristics.
Although the symptoms may overlap, the following symptoms can help differentiate them:
Chest tightness from acid reflux
- Burning sensation in the middle of the chest, feeling hot or burning in the chest or below the sternum, especially after meals.
- Frequent belching, sour burps, or excessive gas.
- Bloating and discomfort, especially after large meals or when lying down right after eating.
- Feeling of a lump in the throat (globus sensation), as if something is stuck and causing difficulty swallowing.
- Chronic cough or chronic sore throat, caused by acid reflux irritating the airway.
- Intermittent shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, especially when lying down, allowing acid to reach the airways.
Chest tightness from heart disease
- Pain or tightness in the middle of the chest, feeling like pressure, squeezing, or a heavy weight pressing on the chest.
- Pain radiating to the arm, neck, jaw, or shoulder.
- Chest pain or tightness during activity, such as exertion or climbing stairs.
- Chest tightness lasting more than 5-10 minutes and not relieved easily, even with rest.
- Excessive sweating.
- Cold sweats with chest tightness.
- Shortness of breath or shortness of breath, especially when lying flat or during exertion.
- Irregular heartbeat and palpitations together with chest tightness.
- Unusual fatigue, even without strenuous activity.
