Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection package for joint and ligament injuries
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections can be used to treat degeneration or minor injuries in muscle tissue or the surfaces of joints, intervertebral and ligaments. This type of treatment accelerates wound healing and cell repair, rehabilitating the injured sites back to pre-injury levels.
Groups suited to PRP treatment:
- Patients suffering from initial-stage joint surface degeneration
- Patients who have sustained a joint injury that does not involve a serious deformity
- Athletes experiencing minor cartilage injuries
- Elderly patients experiencing the initial stages of knee osteoporosis
Recommended number of PRP injection sessions
The required course of PRP injections when treating, for example, degeneration, minor muscle tissue injuries, knee joint injuries, or meniscus tears, can be classified according to the patient’s symptoms, as follows:
- Treatment of degeneration is a lengthy process for which a single PRP injection session will not be effective. Therefore, patients will be advised to receive at least 3 injections for effective treatment.
- PRP injections used in the treatment of minor muscle tissue injuries can be effective using a single shot of PRP alongside follow-up ultrasound appointments to monitor progress.
- PRP injections used in the treatment of joint tears require continuous attention, meaning at least 3 injections should be given.
