Akkapon Poolcharoen, M.D.

Akkapon Poolcharoen, M.D. is a board-certified hematologist with over 15 years of clinical experience in hematology and oncology. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Tumor Immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and a visiting fellowship in cell therapy at Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre in Toronto, Canada. He is a member of the Thai Society of Hematology and the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand.

Dr. Akkapon has contributed to the field through clinical research and publication, including studies on NK cell ex vivo expansion, a published case report on haploidentical stem cell transplantation using a second-degree relative donor for high-risk refractory acute myeloid leukemia, and a review on NK cell-based immunotherapy highlighting emerging therapeutic directions. 

His specialized expertise includes:

• Treating adult leukemia, lymphoma and other hematologic malignancies
• Performing bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including haploidentical transplantation
• Immunotherapy with Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell (CAR-T Cell) Therapy is used to treat certain types of lymphoma and leukemia that cannot be treated with conventional methods.
• Managing complex and refractory blood disorders requiring advanced transplantation techniques
• Diagnosing and treating benign blood diseases, including anemia and coagulation disorders
