Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital Hosts the 3rd Annual Age Friendly Run, Bringing Together Runners Aged 50+ for a Safe “Run to Stay YOUNG” with Doctor and Nurse Runners

Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital invites people aged 50+ and their families to take part in the Age Friendly Run 2026 by Samitivej: “Run to stay YOUNG.”

Now being held for the third time, this event will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2026, with 1, 3, 5, and 10km race distances. Participants will be supported throughout the route by a team of experienced doctors and nurses to ensure a safe running experience.

Participants in all distances will also receive complimentary health consultations with doctors, using data from smartwatches or smart rings. The consultations cover sleep, heart health, nutrition, and exercise. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Samitivej New Life Fund and the Thai Association of Sports Medicine.

Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, M.D., Director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital and Samitivej International Children’s Hospital said, “Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, under the age-friendly hospital concept, specializes in elderly care. We have been recognized for meeting two international standards from the United States: accreditation for emergency elderly care and the highest level of age-friendly health systems care.”

Elderly care is not only about treating illness, but also about promoting good physical and mental health. The hospital organized this event to promote exercise and family participation under the 4Ms framework, which provides advanced elderly care that goes beyond the disease being treated. Care begins before illness occurs, helping extend an individual's Healthspan to support healthier living for longer. More than 100 doctor and nurse runners will also join the run to ensure participants' safety throughout the route.

The event features four race distances:

  • 1km: A walk-run within the hospital, with participants invited to enjoy health-focused activity stations along the route. This non-competition distance is suitable for all ages, including older adults and wheelchair users.
  • 3km: A light walk-run starting from the hospital on Rama 9 Road and returning through the entrance on Srinakarin Road. This non-competitive distance offers moderate exercise at a comfortable pace.
  • 5km: Starting from the hospital, runners head toward Srinakarin Road, turn onto Hua Mak Road, then enter Soi Hua Mak 21 and continue through to Rama 9 Road before turning left onto Srinakarin Road and returning to the finish line at the hospital. This distance offers an opportunity to challenge their time and fitness to the test, proving that age is no barrier to staying active.
  • 10km: Runners head toward Srinakarin Road, turn onto Hua Mak Road, and continue to Rajamangala National Stadium before heading back out and completing another loop of Hua Mak Road. On the return, runners enter Soi Hua Mak 21 and follow the same route as the 5km course back to the finish line. This distance is a test of determination and the strength of an exceptional generation of seasoned runners.

This year, there will be 60 awards across the 5km and 10km distances, with competitions in both overall and age group categories:

  • Overall: 1st-5th place, male and female – 20 awards
  • Age Group: 3 age categories: 50-59, 60-69, and 70 years and older; 1st-3rd place, male and female – 36 awards
