Bangkok, 18 March 2022 – WHA Company Limited and Samitivej Hospital announced the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation for the Promotion and Development of Digital Healthcare. Its purpose is to enhance access to healthcare services and solutions for all employees and customers in WHA's industrial estates, logistic center and office building through the company's new application, WHAbit platform, together with Samitivej Virtual Hospital services from Samitivej Hospital.
The MoU between the two organizations will involve detailed studies and research into current operating procedures, from the conception of ideas through completion, in order to provide highly effective online healthcare services that have a seamless link to offline activities. These services include telemedicine, health check-ups, NCD (non-communicable disease) clinics, smart clinics, prescriptions, data analytics, and much more.
The WHA Group is committed to developing the infrastructure and technology to support the WHAbit platform, a digital health care application which will soon be ready for full service. WHA will also provide market information, identify pain points and share requirements that will be used to design and enhance healthcare solutions and services offered by Samitivej through its virtual hospital platform.
Through this cooperative agreement, Samitivej Hospital, in the role of medical service provider, will connect medical specialists from the Samitivej Hospital network to WHAbit, and provide the support required to facilitate the provision of a comprehensive range of digital healthcare solutions. The hospital will provide the level of services and offer the utmost convenience to ensure that users of the WHAbit app have all of their needs met, not only those provided through online channels. Additionally, Samitivej will make the necessary resources and structures available to ensure that hospital services are accessible through the WHAbit application.
Chairat Panthuraamphorn, M.D., Managing Director and CEO of Samitivej and BNH Hospitals, explained that “This memorandum of understanding represents an innovative partnership in the fields of medicine and industry. We are extremely proud to enter this partnership with the WHA Group, a market leader in the logistics industry responsible for various technological developments that it has used to help it achieve success.” Outlining the benefits of the partnership, Dr, Chairat then went on to add that “I am confident this MoU between the WHA Group and Samitivej will break down a number of barriers in the field of healthcare, ensuring that greater numbers of people have access to high quality services than ever before. Samitivej’s existing expertise and experience in the field of Virtual Hospitals (telemedicine) means I am certain that this partnership will be a key turning point signalling the arrival of numerous new innovations in this arena. Additionally, working alongside WHA enables a more intense focus on diagnostics, hospital treatment, rehabilitative medicine, and preventive techniques using the latest technological advancements. This partnership helps us achieve our goal of becoming an Organization of Value that is well placed to improve the domestic economy and attract investment, ensuring a smooth transition into the EEC which is built upon stable economic foundations that provide a base for future economic success.”
Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Group Chief Executive Officer, WHA Corporation Public Company Limited, remarked that “Signing this MoU with Samitivej marks a crucial step forward for the WHA Group and I feel extremely proud that we are the first digital healthcare company to offer services of this kind in the industry. We have done this because not only do we at WHA want to ensure that our employees enjoy coming into work each day, but we also want to promote health and wellbeing for all. This means that those working in the industry have access to high quality healthcare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We believe this partnership will improve the overall quality of healthcare available in Thailand, including in terms of public health services. This is epitomized in our digital healthcare platform which utilizes the latest technologies to support effective solutions that are convenient and affordable enough for all members of society to access, while also reducing the stress placed on physical healthcare locations, and thus relieving pressure on public health services.”
This commitment to improvement has seen the WHA Group develop the WHAbit application under the concept of corporate wellness, ensuring greater accessibility to healthcare services than was previously possible. Ms Jareeporn explained that “The WHAbit application has been in use among WHA Group employees since 2021 and so far its results have been overwhelmingly positive, which reflects our desire to continuously innovate and create new technologies that improve the working environment for our staff.”
The WHAbit app is a digital health tool that helps users manage their health by consulting doctors via video call for diagnosis, treatment, and medication prescriptions and delivery. The WHA Group plans to extend this WHAbit application to its customers or entrepreneurs in WHA's industrial estates by the third quarter of 2022. WHAbit is the perfect channel for holistic health care through digital media, helping users stay healthy and experience a better working life.
