BDMS and Samitivej Hospital introduce Radiance MicroPad™

Bangkok – A national collaboration between BDMS and the dermatology team at Samitivej Hospital has led to the development of Thailand’s first medical-grade esthetic innovation, Radiance MicroPad™. This microneedle patch delivers visible light directly into the skin at the micron level, setting a new benchmark for skin-care technology in Thailand. It is designed to address common pain points for patients undergoing esthetic procedures, such as fear of pain, post-treatment redness and swelling, and the need to avoid sunlight for several days.

Dr. Nithiwat Gijsriurai, M.D., Director of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, said, “Patients seeking dermatologic care are often concerned about pain and recovery time. Our hospital is committed to developing technologies that reduce these limitations while maintaining precision and effectiveness. This approach allows for gentler skin care, faster recovery, and a better fit for urban lifestyles without disrupting daily routines.

This technology also enhances our medical team’s ability to provide more comprehensive care, especially for individuals who previously avoided procedures due to fear of pain. It represents an important step forward in elevating dermatologic treatment at our hospital.”

Assoc. Prof. Wilai Thanasarnaksorn, M.D., Head of the Samitivej Esthetics Institute at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, said, “Research shows that combining micron-level microneedles with the delivery of visible light into the skin can effectively stimulate deep skin rejuvenation, restructure the skin, and enhance collagen production. We have continued to monitor outcomes and found that this technology aligns with skin biology while reducing risks related to heat buildup and irritation. It offers a safe approach to skin care that can be tailored to each individual’s needs.”

Assoc. Prof. Jitlada Meephansan, M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Division of Dermatology at the Chulabhorn International College of Medicine, Thammasat University, and Dermatologist at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, said, “This technology delivers therapeutic light into the skin with precision through gentle micron-level microneedles. It helps smooth the skin, even out skin tone, and effectively enhance the skin’s rejuvenation process. Studies show that 80 percent of users experienced visible improvement from week 4, continuing through week 16. The best outcomes showed significantly smoother skin, smaller pores, reduced wrinkles, improved hydration, reduced redness, and better-balanced oil levels and skin pH. Overall, skin condition across all parameters improved by up to 75 percent.”

The mechanism of Radiance MicroPad™ works through gentle microneedles that lightly touch the skin, similar to the soft grip of a hook-and-loop surface, while delivering visible light directly into the dermis. This stimulates collagen production, reduces inflammation, and decreases pigment formation for a brighter complexion. The treatment is virtually painless and offers faster recovery compared with traditional microneedling or standard laser procedures.

Clinical tests have shown:

  • Pain reduction of approximately 60–70%
  • Decrease in recovery time from 3-5 days to only 1-2 hours
  • Visible improvement in fine lines and pores after just three consecutive sessions

The treatment is suitable for individuals seeking facial rejuvenation, pore tightening, and collagen stimulation. Those who should avoid it include individuals with open wounds, acute skin inflammation, highly sensitive skin, or photosensitivity. A thorough history and detailed assessment are required before treatment.
Since the technology relies on visible light, it does not generate heat buildup or cause skin irritation. Moreover, the product is manufactured to ISO international quality and safety standards.
