Samitivej Enhances Prenatal Screening with Advanced Technology for Chromosomal Abnormalities through Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), Elevating Thai Medicine in Collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong to Enhance Treatment Efficiency

Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, in collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a world-renowned institution for genetic disease research, hosted the 2024 Bangkok Maternal Fetal Medicine Meeting: CUHK – Samitivej Hospital Forum on NIPT. This event was organized to provide doctors, nurses and medical professionals with updates on the latest advancements in fetal chromosomal abnormality screening using the NIPT. The event took place on July 26, 2024, at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital.

NIPT can accurately screen for Down syndrome in fetuses with a precision of up to 99.7%. Additionally, it can examine all 23 pairs of chromosomes for genetic abnormalities, missing genes and extra genes. Early screening allows for timely identification of genetic abnormalities, potentially enabling early intervention.
