Somsiri Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., Committee Member of the Thai Breastfeeding Center Foundation and Executive Advisor to Samitivej Public Company Limited, participated in the annual event “Uniting Partners to Advocate, Promote, and Support Exclusive Breastfeeding for the First Six Months Postpartum.” Also present was Hathaitip Chaiprapa, M.D., Hospital Executive Assistant and Neonatologist at Samitivej Children’s Hospital, who served as a co-speaker, sharing knowledge and advocating for breastfeeding practices in hospitals. The event aimed to foster positive attitudes and prepare mothers and families to meet their breastfeeding goals. The event was organized by the Department of Health, Bureau of Health Promotion, and held on August 19, 2024.
Samitivej Hospitals is committed to supporting services that meet Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) standards, raising awareness about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and the risks associated with introducing water or other foods before six months. The hospital has established a system of expert care and guidance during the postpartum recovery period, both in the hospital and after discharge. Additionally, the hospital provides a Lactation Clinic, promoting holistic care to ensure mothers succeed in breastfeeding their infants.
