Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital Receives Plaque of Honor for Assisting Patients from Singapore Airlines Turbulence Incident

Saran Inthakul, M.D., Deputy Director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, received a plaque of honor from Mr. Kittipong Kittikachorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport. This recognition was for the hospital's support in assisting passengers affected by a severe turbulence incident on Singapore Airlines flight SQ321, which requested an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The ceremony took place at the Airport Operations Building (AOB) on May 30, 2024.

Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital extends its gratitude to all government and private agencies that cooperated in the rapid transfer and treatment of injured passengers.

The medical team, nurses and staff are fully trained to handle a large number of critical patients simultaneously. Regular mass casualty incident drills are conducted, and the hospital houses the Samitivej Trauma Center, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand. The hospital adheres to standards for geriatric emergency care and has received Geriatrics Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from the American College of Emergency Physicians. The hospital boasts specialists in numerous fields, including neurology, orthopedics and surgery, and Samitivej Children's Hospital adds a wide range of pediatric specialties. Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital was entrusted with the care of 71 patients from the incident.
