Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital Collaborates for Alzheimer's Awareness on World Alzheimer's Day

Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital joins forces with the SOOK Enterprise by Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and JS100 Radio to organize an event on World Alzheimer’s Day. Keeping Thais safe from Alzheimer’s because we do not want anybody to get sick. #AgeFriendlyHospital

Every 3 seconds, someone is diagnosed with dementia. Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital recognizes the importance of delaying the development of this disease and providing care for dementia patients. 

Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, M.D., Director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, participated in the World Alzheimer’s Day event, which included activities aimed at preventing and delaying the development of Alzheimer's disease. These activities included a health talk on ‘Differentiating Memory Loss: Alzheimer's, Normal Forgetfulness, and Treatment’ by Eakpot Nimkulrat, M.D., Neurologist; a session on "Understanding, Preventing, and Delaying Dementia" by Assoc. Prof. Sukcharoen Tangwongchai, M.D., Psychiatrist and Chief of Dementia Day Center of King Chulalongkorn Memorial hospital and Tippapa Chutikankosol, M.D., Geriatric Medicine Specialist; and a music therapy session for patients at risk of dementia and those already suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
The event featured AI-based screening for dementia without the need for blood tests, and the Dinsaw Elderly Companion, an AI-based robotic companion for the elderly. There were also brain exercise activities conducted by the SOOK Enterprise by Thai Health Promotion Foundation and a team of occupational therapists from the Rehabilitation Center at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital.
The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Kulpong Bunnag (P’Byrd), a beloved artist and singer from the legendary duo ‘Byrd & Heart’ who joined in with singing and participated in the various activities taking place during the event.
