Nithiwat Gijsriurai, M.D., Director of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, Suchat Jerajakwatana, M.D., President of the Medical Staff Organization, and Mayuree Thongpan, M.D., Chair of the "Samitivej Wins Waste" project, accepted the top award in the upcycling category at the BDMS Waste Competition 2024. The award was presented at the BDMS Awards 2024, held on October 18, 2024 at the BDMS Connect Center in Bangkok.
Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital’s award-winning project, PPE Isolation Gown, utilizes upcycled materials by repurposing used bottles and plastic into PPE gowns for hospital use. This initiative is part of the “Samitivej Wins Waste” project, designed to support environmental conservation. The project has since expanded to create other sustainable products for use within the hospital, employee T-shirts, doctor gowns and patient take-home bags.
Samitivej Hospital recognizes the importance of conducting business with social and environmental responsibility, both within and beyond the organization. This commitment aligns with the hospital's broader sustainability strategy, embodied by the "Green and Clean - Samitivej Hospital" initiative.
