Alternative Quarantine in Thailand

While in ASQ, Samitivej Sukhumvit and Samitivej Srinakarin Hospitals will overlook the health care of travelers as per the guidelines established by the Ministry of Public Health, and monitor those entering the Kingdom for a COVID-19 infection for no less than 14 days.

Samitivej’s team provides two COVID-19 screening tests during your stay at an ASQ hotel. We also provide TytoHome healthcare devices which allow self examinations . During your stay you can have tele-consultations with our doctors via Samitivej Virtual Hospital and our nurse will be available on call 24/7 in case one experiences any symptoms. The hospital also offers influenza vaccinations to strengthen immunity.

Samitivej Hospital has been approved by the Ministry of Public Health as an alternative hospital quarantine (AHQ) site for Thais and foreign nationals alike. This service extends to those travelling to Thailand for treatment purposes, whether it is for chronic health conditions and specialist surgical procedures, or for medical and wellness tourism, such as cosmetic surgery and fertility treatment. All patients will be tested for COVID-19, and must remain under observation for a minimum of 14 days even if the treatment is completed in a shorter time as per the criteria and guidelines prescribed by the Thai Government.

Recommended for medical treatments that require a patient be admitted to the hospital include Regenerative Medicine, Alternative Medicine, Cardiovascular Treatment, Musculoskeletal Treatment, Dental Treatment, IVF, Cancer Treatment, Disease with Surgery Conditions, Eye Treatment, Precision Medicine and NCD.

Protocol for AHQ in Samitivej Hospital

•    Upon arrival in Bangkok, patient will be transferred and admitted to Samitivej Sukhumvit or Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital’s isolation ward.

•    Only 1 entourage can share the room with the patient (except for ICU). In case, of more than one entourage; a single room each will be arranged for 15 days and 14 nights under the COVID-19 guideline of Ministry of Public Health of Thailand.

•    Real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) for COVID-19 must be performed upon arrival, between 5th-7th day and on the 14th day of AHQ.

•    If COVID-19 test results are positive, treatment must be done at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital or Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital.

•    The patient has to follow the medical planned procedures by the treating physician’s discretion. 

•    Patients are allowed to leave the room for medical investigation and procedure.

•    During the quarantine period, entourages (s) are not allowed to go outside the room.

•    Fever and upper respiratory tract symptoms will be monitored twice a day.

•    Even if the medical investigation and procedure can be completed sooner, patient and accompanying person(s) are strictly required to complete a 15-day AHQ.

Hygiene and cleanliness in our operating rooms
Our operating rooms have received international accreditation for the inclusion of laminar airflow filtration devices that reduce the risk of infection. Our bacteria prevention walls and a specially designed glass-wall system – the first of its kind to be built in Thailand – are among the latest medical innovations to come out of Europe. This means that all walls of the operating rooms are in one piece, without any joins or seams, making them much easier to clean and keep free from bacteria.
In addition, all medical equipment is regularly tested before being authorized for use within our rooms, while a member of the operating team monitors the pressure, moisture and temperature of the operating rooms on a daily basis and prior to any surgery.
 

We screen all patients for COVID-19 prior to surgery, with the objective of keeping both patients and staff safe. To ensure maximum convenience, patients wishing to undergo procedures that require a hospital stay and are valued at over THB 100,000  during July to December 2020 are advised to book their appointments in advance so that they can receive a COVID-19 screening at least 1-2 days before surgery is due.

Samitivej PACE allows real-time monitoring of patients during surgery. This system was created by Samitivej so relatives of patients undergoing surgery can check on the patient’s status in real time. For instance, relatives can see if a patient is waiting to enter the operating room or is in the recovery room. All you need to do is add @Samitivej on the LINE application to receive a password for the service.
 Samitivej PROMPT, can be used by patients’ throughout their hospital stay. With this ward monitoring system, patients can check their daily schedule, the medical team attending to them, message their doctor or/and choose the times of day during which they do not wish to be disturbed. Patients may change their on-site follow-up appointment to a video call consultation at the discretion of the doctor in charge of treatment.
