On June 29, 2016, Samitivej Hospital celebrated its 37-year anniversary. In celebrating this anniversary, we highlight the hospital’s most important features in medical care. Our hospital is built on a strong foundation of excellent customer and patient service, as well as with the opening of a new and modern Samitivej Children’s Hospital at Sukhumvit campus incorporating innovative, cutting-edge technologies. This new facility was built with the goal of being the most comprehensive, specialized treatment center available for children.
Chairat Panthuraamporn, M.D., Managing Director and CEO of Samitivej Public Company, Ltd., states, “Samitivej has gained the trust of its customers and patients due to the quality of service and outstanding conduct demonstrated by our team of doctors and medical professionals throughout the past 37 years. This year, we strive to continually develop our services by developing the culture of “Be Excellent, Be Empathetic” in our hospital. Meaning, the consistent forward progress and development of medical innovations, providing excellent treatment and services at every stage of the care process, coupled with genuine understanding of and empathy for the needs of those receiving our services, for the maximum benefit of all our patients and their families.”
Nithiwat Gijsriurai, M.D., Hospital Director of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, said of the occasion: “Samitivej is extremely proud of this moment as we step into our 37th year. We have consistently developed and advanced in a variety of areas, creating value for the medical field, while holding firmly to principles of good governance and administration. These principles are divided into three main aspects: health care and treatment, service, and an overall positive environment throughout the hospital.”
In the medical sphere, Samitivej uses its specialized expertise to develop Centers of Excellence, employing new innovations in colonoscopy screening and minimally invasive surgery, allowing for much faster recovery rates and the ability to return more quickly to daily life and routines.
This year, the Sukhumvit Campus of the Samitivej Children’s Hospital will be opening its new facility offering a comprehensive range of pediatric services. The center features a specialized design for the accommodation of more patients, enhanced clinical space usage, and a clearer separation of service provisions in order to better prevent the spread of fever and infections. The center is also staffed by an experienced team of doctors, nurses, psychologists and occupational therapists, in a variety of fields, as well as interpreters available to assist our international patients. Additionally, the rooms available for mothers after giving birth have been renovated and upgraded. There is a greater focus on infertility and increased expertise on the management of high risk pregnancies. All services are administered by a team of doctors and medical specialists focused on helping patients feel completely safe and secure from conception to delivery.
Samitivej is determined to continually raise the quality levels of our services, placing major importance on understanding and feeling empathy for all of our patients. These services begin with small details such as the courteous manner of the hospital greeters at the front doors, assisting patients in wheelchairs by pushing the wheelchairs as smoothly and evenly as possible, and drawing blood samples in a gentle, careful manner. The services extend to larger issues, such as doctors providing a clear explanation of procedures and treatments in order to allay patients’ fears or concerns and answering any questions they might have. Samitivej focuses on creating an efficient system for work processes, the provisioning of quality employee training, and the utilization of a modern computer system in hospital operations. Additionally, the development of the Samitivej eLibrary – a smartphone application enabling customers to enjoy a variety of entertainment, news, and the latest promotions offered by the hospital.
Samitivej puts a lot of emphasis on patients to feel relaxed and experience comfort and warmth, to aid them in the alleviation of pain and relief from illnesses. For this reason, we improved our “Samitivej Glass House”, which features a beautiful design of glass sides all around. It is located in the center of the building, with gorgeous trees, an array of lovely flowers, a waterfall in the middle of the garden, and calming instrumental music accompanying the beautiful scenery. There is also an outdoor area where patients can sit and relax, as well as various shops, restaurants, and other amenities for their convenience.
For our 37-Year Anniversary, in addition to the annual merit-making ceremony, Samitivej will also be commemorating H.R.H. Prince Mahitala Dhibesra Adulyadej Vikrom, the Prince Father, who is regarded as the father of modern medicine and public health for Thailand. Samitivej Hospital has long embraced His Royal Highness’ ideas and principles as a guide in hospital management, as well as adopting His Royal Highness’ medical practice guidelines in order to provide better services through better understanding of our patients. Events include a Phan Phum (ceremonial flower cone tray) laying ceremony in front of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s royal signature to commemorate Her Royal Highness’ presiding over the Opening Ceremony of the Royal Wing of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital on June 6, 2005, the Samitivej Glass House opening ceremony, a musical performance from the Trio Band, an onstage discussion with mother-to-be Ann Alicha Hiranpruk, a performance by Bie KPN, and a delectable variety of treats from well known shops and eateries.
Samitivej Hospital was founded in June, 1979, and is now one of the leading private hospital groups in Thailand and in Southeast Asia, providing services of the highest medical standards, with quality accreditation both on a national (HA) and international level (Joint Commission International (JCI) from the United States of America). Currently, there are six hospitals in the Samitivej Group. These include: Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, Samitivej Children’s Hospital, Samitivej Sriracha Hospital, Samitivej Thonburi Hospital and Samitivej Chonburi Hospital.
